This is a young adult book by one of my favorite authors. It covers the spiral into violence in dating among teens really well. She’s actually able to pull the air out of the room and suck the reader into the hopelessness the main character feels. The one area I wish had been addressed was how the abuser was able to get help. He didn’t, and even though at the beginning, his reason for abuse was clearly given, I think kids who are dealing with this could have used the help in knowing how an abuser can get out of the cycle, too. All in all, though, it was a great book, not too preachy, and well-written.
